New Zealand’s borders set to open again

New Zealand borders opening again and allow travel and roadtrips.

Today, the New Zealand government has announced that the country’s borders are set to open again from 27 February 2022. The path to re-opening the country is based on a 5-stage plan - the first stage will allow fully vaccinated New Zealand citizens and residents to enter the country without the need to stay at a managed isolation and quarantine (MIQ) facility.

Step 1 — From 11:59pm, 27 February 2022

The following fully vaccinated people can enter New Zealand from Australia and self-isolate upon arrival:

- New Zealand citizens and residents

- Other eligible travellers under current border settings.

Unvaccinated travellers, and those who do not meet New Zealand’s vaccination requirements, who are eligible to enter New Zealand will continue to enter managed isolation and quarantine (MIQ).
